Toddler Bedding - The Finishing Touch To Your Toddler’s Bedroom

Your toddler bedding choices will vary depending on the theme already present in your toddler’s room.

This being said, you will discover that a variety of options await you. Just remember that when you go to make your purchases, that you settle for nothing but the best quality and fabrics.

To give you an idea of what to look for when purchasing toddler bedding, the following is a breakdown of the basic items you will find:

* Comforter/Quilt - Whether you choose a comforter or a quilt is entirely your decision. Everything depends on your own taste, as well as the look you desire for the toddler bedding in your child’s room.

Nevertheless, despite what you may choose, remember that you will want these items to be made of top quality, to ensure that your child is kept warm, and free from allergies. Make sure that the comforter or quilt is soft, and machine washable. That way you can rest easy knowing that if anything should spill, it can be easily cleaned.

* Pillow sham - A pillow sham is a personal choice, but it is a toddler bedding item that certainly dresses up the look of the bed. Usually you can obtain the matching pillow sham with the comforter or quilt, as often they are sold as a set.

* Mattress Pad - a mattress pad is not an essential part of toddler bedding, but it is a good idea that you invest in one. A mattress pad is designed to fit snuggly on a mattress (different sizes are available), and to protect it from stains that can possibly result from spills, vomit or bed wetting.

You will want your mattress to last your child throughout their toddler stage; a mattress pad is a great way to ensure that this happens.

* Bed Sheets - The sheets that you select as part of your toddler bedding should include a bed sheet, top sheet, and pillowcase. In most cases, bed sheets are sold as sets, so it should not be difficult to purchase all of these items in one.

However, make sure that when you make your purchase that all sheets are machine washable, made with quality, and are made from hypoallergenic materials.  Usually the best sheet fabrics are polyester/cotton, or for colder nights, flannel.

Toddler bedding comes in a number of designs, patterns, colors and characters that are bound to match the theme of your toddler’s room.  Of course, toddler bedding is also sold in solid colors, but designs tend to be more fun. Examples of some of the fun designs you can expect are:

    * Teddy bears
    * Airplanes
    * Cars
    * Trucks * Fire engines
    * Ballerinas
    * Animals (cats, dogs, bunnies, birds, horses, farm animals, etc.)
    * Fairies
    * Popular Cartoons ("Winnie the Pooh", "Mickey Mouse", "Bugs Bunny", etc.)
    * Various geometrical shapes (circles, squares, diamonds, stars, dots, etc.)

When you go out searching for your toddler bedding, carefully make your selection, and see if there are any other items you might be interested in adding to dress up your little one’s bed.

For example, if your toddler is in a standard twin (single) bed, you may also want to purchase a bed skirt to add a little more style. You may also be interested in purchasing other small themed pillows or soft fuzzy throw blanket for decoration. And don’t forget to have fun shopping for your toddler bedding - enjoy!
