Teen Room Ideas to Make Any Teenager Happy!

There are many parents who are desperate for fresh, new teen room ideas. Teens and parents often have opposite views about the room, how to decorate it as well as how it should be kept.

These views clash and the room ends up either painted a drastic shade or looking "corny," depending on who gives in.

Communication is key when coming up with teen room ideas. When evaluating teens room ideas, the first thing to be considered is what he would like to look at every day.

Every teen is "into" something, some team, or some rock group.

This would be a good place to start. Before going with a teen room idea, keep in mind, though, that this interest might change at any time. So try to keep the actual teen room ideas general enough to cover any minor switches.

For example, if your teenager is interested in a specific singing group, you would want to decorate the walls in a simple paint, perhaps a musical note themed border, then let the teen add posters of the latest group on top of this base. Click here for some great music poster ideas.

Then, a few months later, when the next hot group comes along, all you have to do is put up new posters.

A quick tip regarding putting posters on a painted wall; invest in a few cheap poster frames, available anywhere posters are sold, and hang them on one small nail. Your walls will not be completely ruined from tape residue, and your wallpaper will not be torn to shreds.

By the way, if your child prefers to decorate his or her room in something other than a music theme, then check out these links for other poster options...

Another good teen room idea is to paint the room in your teen's favorite team colors. These are often bright, vibrant colors, and most of complement each other very well.

Create a chair-rail height division, paint the top the lighter color, and the bottom the darker color. This teen room idea keeps the room balanced, and also creates a wonderful blank canvas for the teen to work from when hanging extras on the walls.

These could include framed, signed jerseys, boxed baseballs from a favorite game, an old pair of ballet shoes worn at a big recital, or any other personal sports memorabilia.

Make sure to include a felt pendant from the favorite team to pull everything together. Team logo printed curtains and perhaps bed sheets, will add to the style and bring in more of the theme.

If your teen is artistic, a great teen room ideas is to allow them to paint their version of the team mascot on one wall, freehand or from a stencil. Teen room ideas can be difficult to implement, but as long as you make sure your teenager is part of the decision, the whole family should be able to agree upon a theme.

Please keep in mind that a teenager desperately needs a place that belongs to only him, that he can escape with his thoughts and be comfortable and safe.

Enjoy decorating your teen's room, creating something unique with your son or daughter, and relishing the last years of their childhood.
