Teen Bedroom Designs - Create Something Unique
There are many teen bedroom designs that utilize designs from foreign countries, yet can be customized to become
unique and personal teen rooms.
For example, if your teenager has an interest in China and its art, there are many ways to decorate a teen room that
will be suitable for either your teenage son or daughter.
For an Eastern teen bedroom design, paint the walls a deep turquoise or a Chinese Red lacquer. If the walls are
turquoise, decorate them with stamps depicting Chinese dragons. Try painting a bamboo design on the ceiling or using a bamboo print "pattern roller."
Consider taking an existing dresser and cutting it down to table height after removing the lowest drawer. Mount the
dresser on wheels, and then paint the chest a deep Chinese red lacquer.
Hunt down Chinese coins, and attach them to flat fronted drawer pulls. Then glue four coins in a circle around each drawer knobs.
Hang themed artwork to really set an exotic mood. You'll find many inexpensive choices at AllPosters.com.
Buy large red and peacock blue floor pillows. The dresser will double as a table for entertaining and a dresser for
storage space. Hang a few Chinese lanterns from the ceiling, and use bold colors for bedding and accent pieces.
Finally, hunt down red dragon statues or a green jade Buddha, and you will have created an Eastern sanctuary for
your teenager to relax and entertain in.
Another adaptable teenage bedroom design is to decorate in a Caribbean style. If possible, utilize thick, uneven
stucco and brick walls.
Use the texture of a rough stuccoed walls by painting it a bright tropical color, such as parrot green on one wall and peacock blue or turquoise on another wall.
The bed in a Caribbean teen bedroom design should be a canopy. Try using filmy gauze material draped over bamboo
rods suspended from the ceiling.
Either let the fabric flow around the bed to pool on the floor, or cut it into uneven zigzags and finish off the
ends with threaded shells and beads hanging from the bottoms of the irregular ends.
Use wicker or rattan furniture in this teen bedroom design. Hunt down beaded lamps at flea markets, and
tropical-themed statues of colorful parrots.
Find a mirror with a carved wooden frame and paint it a watermelon red. Or cover a flat wooden frame with a coat of plaster and embed colorful beads and shells in it. Finish off this teen bedroom design by installing a wooden
ceiling fan and gauzy, sheer curtains.
For a teenage boy, bold, bright colors and plaids work well for a popular teen bedroom design. Either use wallpaper with a Scottish plaid print, or paint a plaid yourself using a mix of paint and glaze to create a soft, translucent effect.
Add bedding and accent pieces in bold reds, blues, and yellows for a cheerful, energizing effect.
You can use themes when choosing teen bedroom designs.
Consider decorating around a snowboarding theme, using skateboards as shelves and bright colors on the walls. Or
teen bedroom designs around textures, such as water, ice, and snow, using translucent colors and clear plastic accent pieces.
Paint the walls with wide stripes of pearly white and gray, and paint furniture with a slivery metallic paint.
Regional flavors, themes, colors, and textures can all be used to create unique and personal teen bedroom designs.
