Sports Theme Bedroom
by KR&C Staff
Lots of kids love to be active, so a sports theme bedroom would appeal to those who are on teams, who play for fun, or who just enjoy attending the games and watching them on television. Creating a sports theme bedroom can either include many different types of sport, or you can dedicate the room to a single type. Use the following sports theme bedroom tips to achieve the look you want for your child’s room.
Begin by deciding what kind of sports theme bedroom you want to create. Is it for lots of different games, or would your child prefer baseball, soccer, basketball, football, tennis, or another one? Though you likely know which one is the favorite, it can’t hurt to ask your child, just in case. You do, after all, want to pick the very favorite in your child’s mind before you start to dedicate a room to it.
On the walls of a sports theme bedroom, you can choose either one color or more than one. Try to make the color suit the game. For example, in a soccer sports theme bedroom, you may choose green walls to represent the grass on which the game is played. That way, if you hang a soccer ball decoration on the wall, it will look like the ball is on the field. You can also stencil images onto the wall instead of hanging them, for a more professional or finished look. Alternately, you might find that wallpaper or a border can add some sporty images. Decals are easy to find and can offer additional images to add to the final appearance of the walls.
Another central part of a sports theme bedroom is its bedding. You can find sets that are specific to a certain type of game, or a favorite team. Otherwise, you can simply buy colored sheets without a team name, but that suit the child’s favorite team, or his or her own team if he or she happens to play. Plush toys in the shape of the right kind of ball or equipment is a great replacement for throw pillows on the bed.
Area rugs in the right team colors or with the right team logos are another fun addition to a sports theme bedroom. The same can be said about window treatments. Sometimes bedding kits will come with all of these parts together, but you can also buy them separately.
Accessories for a sports theme bedroom can include balls, caps, helmets, stuffed animals wearing the right jerseys or colors, and trophies. You can add framed pictures or wall posters to the walls. This is one of the easiest types of décor to create in a sports theme bedroom. The trick is simply to keep your mind open and let your creativity flow.
