Seashell Bedding - Create a Room Designed with Ocean Treasures
Seashell bedding is the perfect choice for any adolescent who has always had a fascination with the beach and all of its hidden treasures.
Designing a room in a seashell/beach theme can be a lot of fun, as there are many interesting decorations you can use to create a bedroom that is truly unique, and your child will enjoy.
Seashell bedding comes in a variety of different colors and styles. While
each one has a common beach/ocean theme, you will discover that the bedding
often has more than two colors, and generally carries with it a distinct
feminine touch.
Some common colors in the seashell bedding include a mixture of caramels, creams, whites, pinks, purples, blues and greens.
Therefore, since not all seashell bedding is designed the same, make sure you
provide your kid with plenty of options so that they can choose the one they like best, allowing you the chance to match their choice bedding with the room décor.
On the other hand, you can also select the bedding first before you begin decorating. This is a good idea, because it is often easier to decorate the room based on the designs and colors in the bedcovers.
For instance, if your child chooses seashell bedding that is primarily blue
with different colored seashells and starfish, you could paint the walls of
the room a light shade of blue or green to resemble the sea, or cream or a dusty brown to resemble a sandy beach.
By the way, two great places to shop online for seashell bedding include YourKidsDirect.com and www.homevision.com.
Anyway, after you have painted the walls, you can then put up a seashell or
starfish wallpaper border around the room (middle, top, bottom, etc.) that matches or is close to the design in the seashell bedding.
If a wall border isn’t what you and your child had in mind, you can also find a seashell and/or starfish stencil and paint these images on the walls.
Some neat decorations you can add to the room to go with the seashell bedding
include:
* Treasure chest: Is great for storage and really fits in with the whole beach/ocean theme.
* Plant(s): A plant, particularly the tall leafy green kind, adds a bit of a tropical touch to the room. Also, plants give life to a room and provide a calming atmosphere.
* Window Treatments: Use a curtain and/or valance that match the seashell bedding or use a solid color.
* Lamp or lamp shade: If you can’t find a lamp decked out in seashells, think of obtaining some seashells of your own and designing your own lamp.
* Throw pillows, blankets: check for matching ones with the bedding, or look
for unique ones in the shape of a seashell or starfish.
* Seashell or beach themed area rug
* Wall art, paintings, prints
* Real seashells displayed on shelves, or in a jar.
The best place to look for seashell bedding is online. There are a number of internet stores that carry different bed sets. You will find that while some come with a comforter/quilt/duvet, bedskirt and pillow sham(s), others also come with a complete set of sheets (top sheet, fitted sheet and pillow case(s)).
In addition, some comforters are reversible, allowing your kid to change
sides whenever they want a new look.
If you want to, you can make shopping for your child’s seashell bedding an
enjoyable experience, and decorating their room a memory you’ll both treasure
forever.
