Painting Childrens Rooms - Fun and Easy Tips

Painting childrens rooms can be an enjoyable task when it is seen as an adventure into imagination.

Children enjoy expressing themselves, and this can be expanded from the coloring book onto the walls and ceilings of their bedrooms.

Depending upon the personality of your child, when painting childrens rooms you should choose either vibrant, bright colors or use the warmer, calmer shades of those colors. The cool, bright colors such as purple, blue, and green are used to stimulate thought and action in a kid.

Warm, muted colors such as reds, oranges, and browns are used to calm and comfort a high-energy child. There are variations to each of these color rules, and a million shades of each to choose from when picking which color your child would be most comfortable with in his bedroom.

The things that can be done with those color choices when painting childrens rooms is endless. You could involve your child, allow them to free-style paint on the walls or dip their hands in paint and then "handprint" the walls in a rainbow of colors.

You could create stripes of color, alternating between two to four or randomly picking amongst many different shades. Splatter painting is always a really fun and foolproof way of painting childrens rooms.

All you have to do is get a paintbrush wet with paint, and then fling your wrists in the direction of the wall to splatter paint in a random arch. Don’t forget the upbeat music while doing this, it loosens you and allows you to enjoy the process even more.

In painting childrens rooms, the ceiling is often overlooked as yet another blank canvas. Children love lying in bed at night, looking up at the ceiling and seeing something, whether that is a galaxy full of stars glowing in the darkness or clouds moving overhead.

To achieve the starry sky view when painting childrens rooms, paint the ceiling a dark blue or black. After that dries, paint on varying sizes, from pin points all the way up to full moon circles of glow-in-the-dark paint.

This paint will store the light from the day and then glow wonderfully when the child goes to bed, granting them hundreds of gentle nightlights to lull them into sleep.

To achieve the cloudy sky view when painting childrens rooms, paint the ceiling any shade of blue from the slightest blue-white all the way to summer sky blue.

Fill a round sponge with white paint; sponge the paint onto the ceiling in groups, creating large and small puffs of clouds.

Layer the clouds by allowing the paint to thin on the sponge, and then paint a cloud offset from an existing brightly painted group. This creates dimension and reality.

This cloudy view is wonderful in the day as well as at night, to calm the child and create a peaceful atmosphere.

However you decide on painting childrens rooms, allow them input and creativity in the process and you both will be very happy with the outcome. Enjoy creating a personal masterpiece with your child.
