I've raised four children and I can tell you this: The only time that they had a new stick of furniture in their room was if someone bought it for us as a present. What can you find? Anything, everything, and things you didn't even imagine. We got a brand name baby monitor for $2.00, a really nice wooden crib for $15 (we threw the mattress out and bought a new one), a combination changing table/dresser for $9.00, a "Winnie-the-Pooh" throw rug for a dollar, and an "Eyore" lamp for $5, and an $8 rocking chair for Mom. Total cost: $39. How's that for fulfilling your nursery decorating ideas on a budget! Be picky, you can afford to! When we furnished our $39 nursery, we didn't settle for junk or mismatched pieces. Our nursery decorating ideas didn't include the grunge look. We wanted the best for our baby, we just didn't want to pay for it. We carefully selected each piece and made sure that it either matched or complemented the others. Take your time and look until you find exactly what you want. We had written down all of our nursery decorating ideas in a little spiral notebook that we carried with us whenever we went shopping. We'd refer to it to make sure that whatever we were buying was the right color or size to fit in the nursery. That way we never ended up with something that we couldn't use.
