Kids Playroom Ideas

by KR&C Staff

Looking for some fun kids playroom ideas? Children absolutely love to play, and when you have the opportunity to provide your son or daughter with a designated play space, then decorating it with great kids playroom ideas can make it even more fun. After all, this is the room in which your child will be spending a number of his or her waking hours, and it will be where friends are entertained with your child’s toys. The proper decorating can make this the most enjoyable playroom possible and can create some very fond memories.

Try some of the following kids playroom ideas to help to add some amusement and creativity to the space:

  • Stickers and decals – these are one of the easiest kids playroom ideas. using pre-made stickers and decals that fit the theme or décor of the room can turn regular furniture into fun and unique decorations, or flat walls into bright and colorful murals. You can choose many different kinds of designs and images that are very pleasing to children. They can include animals, alphabet letters, vehicles (such as cars, trucks, boats, and planes), or even images of playing children. When you use removable static vinyl decals on the walls, then the children can move them around themselves so that they can create their own stories or arrange the decals as they like them.

  • Toys for outside – when you bring the outdoors inside, a rainy day can be lots of fun. Items you’d typically find outside are among the best kids playroom ideas. Big toys, pop tents, and sand boxes help children to be happy, active, and creative, while thinking outside the box and having a good time doing it.

  • LEGO table – almost all children like building blocks, and there is something about LEGO blocks that makes for an especially fun and creative experience. When you add a LEGO table to your kids playroom ideas, then they have a readymade playing surface meant for that toy, allowing them to have a head start on building towns, vehicles, buildings, towers, and other creative pieces of art.

  • An art area – all children should have their artistic sides encouraged. As a part of your kids playroom ideas, try to work in a table or an area on the floor that will be used for developing their artistic skills. This area should be easy to clean (though be careful of drop cloths which can cause slips or trips) and should provide the right work surface for using crayons, play dough, craft paper, non-toxic paints, and other fun art materials and tools. Use a non-slip washable mat that can either stick to or Velcro to the floor to catch any mess that may result.

  • Storage – don’t forget that though this is a space meant for play, part of the kids playroom ideas you’ll need to develop are areas where toys can be put away. This will encourage neatness and safety in your child so that he or she won’t be tripping over things, and toys won’t get broken or go missing.
