Creative Kids Bedding Ideas

If you’re in the market for kids bedding, you may be surprised by the cost.

It’s expensive enough to purchase even basic bedding, even more expensive to buy all the accessories that will match the room’s décor.

Even though kids bedding items can cost more than you plan to spend, you still want your child’s bedroom to be decorated in style. It’s the special added touches that really create a room’s presence. These items personalize your child’s room add warmth and comfort.

Accessorizing your kids bedding theme in your child’s room can be fun. It can also be very inexpensive if you make them yourself. In addition, you’ll have the chance to show off your creative abilities.

An additional benefit of making your own kid bedding goes to your child. He or she will know that you have taken the time to make them yourself. That fact alone will create a sense of warmth and comfort within the room for your child.

Think of the kids bedding that you would like to have in your child’s room. Don’t hesitate in considering an item because you think you can’t make it. You’ll be delighted to know that you don’t need much skilled experience to create your own accessories.

Pillows are a definite kids bedding item you’ll want to include. They can totally change the appearance of a room. You can use them to draw attention to certain areas.

They even work great for toning down an area that creates too much of a central visual focus. Just go as bold or as demure as you need to in order to create the effect you want to achieve.

You don’t need a pattern to make a pillow to coordinate with your child’s bedding in his or her room. In fact, you can even use a solid-colored pillowcase to make the pillow by placing either an old pillow in it.

If you don’t have an old decorative pillow, you can use one that you find at a yard sale or buy from a clearance bin at a discount store.

To use this idea for matching your kids bedding you’ll need to stick with a dark-colored pillowcase. At least make sure that fabric of the pillow you’re using doesn’t show through the pillowcase you use.

After placing the pillow inside, simply fold the open end of the pillowcase around the pillow. Use the same technique you would use in wrapping a gift so that the folds are on the backside of the pillow. Place a light pencil mark or place a piece of tape in the center of the front side of the pillowcase.

Next, for this kids bedding accessory, take the pillow out of the pillowcase. You’ll want to decorate your pillowcase. Iron-on prints and designs are very quick and easy to apply.

An idea that makes a bolder impression with your pillow is to either stick or use fabric glue to attach fabric cutouts.

Dress-up your kid bedding pillows by adding to the cutouts you’ve attached. Faux jewels and beads of all sorts can be used to decorate your pillowcase. Use silk flowers, dragonflies and other items to add your own personal touch.

Once you’ve decorated your kids bedding pillowcase, place the pillow back inside and rewrap it. Secure the folds in place with fabric glue.

See, how easy it can be to accessorize your kids bedding theme in your child’s room? Use the same idea of using fabric cutouts to decorate rugs and even solid colored curtains and table skirts.
