Boys And Girls: Ideas For Kids Rooms

Ideas for kids rooms tend to be limited to cartoon characters or the trend of blue and pink. The truth is that you can do so much more for your children than the standard.

You can create something memorable and, best of all, practical. While those two rarely share a common phrase, here, we will show you that you can make them work together.

Below, we will list two ideas for kids rooms. One will be a boys theme and one will be a girls, respectively. These can show you how to create something that will last and make it work.

Ideas For Kids Rooms: Boys

A space theme is not only popular but practical. Using dark blues and blacks on the walls, you can create a backdrop that will easily go from child to teenager (as opposed to using brighter, possibly more offensive, shades).

Glow in the dark stars and planets can be pasted on the walls and ceiling, providing pleasant company at night and give some educational insight.

These can also be taken down as your son ages. For the bed, it is best not to buy something that is shaped like a rocket simply because, in a few years, that may seem too young.

Instead, buy a standard bed but decorate it with sheets and comforters continuing the space theme. Another way to continue this is buy accessories like a telescope, star maps, etc. These can hold the interest of any child but still provide something different as they age.

Ideas For Kids Rooms: Girls

For this idea, your girl needs to be interested in sports. Yes, we know, usually this theme is associated with boys, but it can swing either way.

In many cases, ideas for kids rooms with a sports theme tend to focus on things like baseball or soccer. There's nothing wrong with that, but perhaps your girl is a budding dancer or equestrian, a gymnast or softball star? These do fall under the sanction of sports.

And this idea is remarkably easy to cater to (and will last longer than something as young as the tea-party or princess look).

If your girl is testing herself with dance, then why not bring a bar for her to practice with, not to mention more mirrors for better visuals?

Or, if she is learning to ride and has fallen in love with horses, using something like a saddle will add much to the room. Sports is a broad category and will last longer than other themes. Consider her interests and dive in (no swimming pun intended).

Ideas for kids rooms do not need to be difficult or even expensive. They just need to show what your child is interested in, and also provide something that will not simply fade after a few months.

With these two themes, you can see that it can be done with little effort. While your teenager will not want the same theme he or she had as a child, you can bet that these ideas for kids rooms will at least last you a few years and get some genuine usage.
