Girls Bedroom Ideas - Ways To Create A Room That Will Last

When you try to pin down the best of the wide selection of girls bedroom ideas, you need to remember one thing: what she likes now may not be what she likes in two years or even two months.

Permanent is rarely applied to a bedroom. So, for decorating girls rooms, you need to think in broader terms. To help get those decorating wheels turning, we offer a few simple suggestions.

One: understand what she wants. Do not (and this is very important) make the assumption that your daughter will be in love with whatever you put together. She should have a say in what goes in her room.

That is, after all, why it is her room. Whether you are decorating for a new baby or revamping for your teen, listen to what she wants. Otherwise, you will probably end up spending more time and effort trying to make changes.

Two: change will occur; get used to it. No matter how much you plan ahead, no matter how broad a theme you create, you will eventually have to make changes to your daughter's room. Accept that.

Too many parents try to skip out on this by either using girls bedroom ideas that are too for their young daughters or keeping girls bedroom ideas that are too young for their older daughters. You will have to make changes. Just get used to it.

Three: understand how simple planning makes a big impact. Now, we know suggestion two came across as a bit ominous but we offer some hope: plan ahead.

While you will still have to make changes as you go, simple planning will keep you from throwing your money into projects that are destined to fail. For instance, when thinking of wall decor, you should consider basic colors for the background and wall stick-ons for the actual decoration.

A primary color can go with anything, but a mural will not. Use things that can be taken down with ease. Pictures, for example, can easily be replaced. For girls bedroom ideas, think about the future.

Four: stay away from limiting themes. While Winnie the Pooh may be wonderful for your young daughter. in a few years she may decide that she hates that bear.

You will then have to change the entire room. Themes can either make your decorating easier or turn it into something tedious. For decorating girls rooms, we suggest themes that will age more gracefully.

This means staying away from age defined ideas, like cartoon characters. These will not last for too long. Instead, think of themes that could move from child to pre-teen. While you will eventually have to change, you can get more decorating lifetimes out of them.

Five: personalize. Take advantage of your daughter's interests. Whether it is a matter of letting her hang her own artwork for wall decoration, or simply providing places where she can hang letters from friends or images she prints online, you can let her determine what goes on her walls.

Girls bedroom ideas should not just be about choosing themes or appropriate colors. They should also be about letting your daughter express her--and giving her plenty of chances to do so.
