They can also use it as an interesting door for their room or closet. Your child will love to show off this craft
ideas for kids' project to their friends.
What you'll need for your craft ideas for children's bead curtain project:
- Thick string or yarn
- Beads
- Dowel rod about four inches longer than your child's doorway.
- Two hooks
To do this craft ideas for kids project:
- Cut the string or yarn into pieces. You'll want these pieces to be about eight inches longer that the
length of curtain you want. This will give you room to tie a knot in the string and also attach it to the rod.
- Tie a knot in one end of the string piece. This end will become the bottom of this curtain strand.
- String beads onto the piece of string or yarn. The size of the beads will determine how many beads you need
to use. If you don't want the entire curtain to be draped with beads, cut your pieces of string longer and tie
knots in it after you string a group of beads.
Go up another portion of the string and tie another knot. This will leave a gap in your curtain that will not have
beads in it.
- When you are finished with a length of bead curtain, tie a knot in the top end. You'll need to put the knot right next to the last bead, and make sure you have four to six inches of string available to make a loop. Make this loop in the top end of the string.
- To prepare your child's doorway for the curtain, attach a hook to the right and left doorframes on the
outside of the frames. Your dowel rod will set down into the hooks making it stable yet easy to remove.
- When all of your curtain pieces are complete, slide the dowel rod through each of the loops. After you get the dowel rod attached to your doorway, you can slide the curtain pieces around to make the spacing you want.
- As an alternative in this craft ideas for kids, if you don't want your curtain pieces to slide around you
can tie them directly to the dowel rod rather than making a loop in the top end of the curtain piece. This will
firmly attach the pieces to the rod and keep them in place.
- Once you get all of your pieces on the rod, set the rod into the hooks.
When this craft ideas for kids project is complete, your child will have a fun decoration they can't wait to show
