Childrens Bedroom Ideas - The Classic And Not So Classic
Finding the right childrens bedroom ideas strikes some parents as difficult.
They do not want to select something that will be deemed useless later on. So, they try to decorate with things that can move through this years. This is a good thing.
Trying to make your young son or daughter have a room that screams adult, however, is not. You have to try and strike a balance. Here, we provide a few themes that should last longer than your five year old's attention span, and explain some of the advantages and disadvantages of each.
For easy ideas for decorating childrens rooms, first consider what your child is interested in. There is sure to be a theme that will both encompass that and still leave you room to maneuver.
Some classic childrens bedroom ideas include:
Using a favorite character: this could be from a book, film, television series, etc. This is one of the easiest themes to do simply because so much merchandise is available.
Be warned, however, that your child's interest in this character could fade and you will be left with the problem of having to refurnish the entire room. For initial speed, this does quite well. For longevity, it is not the best of childrens bedroom ideas.
Sports: for boys, there are few childrens bedroom ideas that translate as well as this one. Whether it's using baseball pennants as wall decorations or splattering posters of their favorite basketball player everywhere, this theme is easy to create--and, most importantly, it can last a few years.
Your son will probably not grow out of athletic worship for a while, leaving you with room that will not need serious changing until he's much older.
Princess: little girls can see this as the ultimate of childrens bedroom ideas, up to a point. While it is simple to do, this theme can run the risk of getting old. Canopy beds and pastel colors may be attractive to a young child but, as your daughter ages, they may give the appearance of being too
immature.
Remember, girls do tend to try and shed the young look earlier
than boys and this theme can represent something they dislike. Be careful with it.
For those looking for a less than traditional approach to decorating childrens rooms, though, there are a few themes that may seem less inviting but can actually mature with your child:
The Beach: especially fitting if you live near the water, this is a theme that can appear too adult at first glance (remember, this is still a child's room; you have to keep it that way) but can actually adapt to different
ages.
Using the basic colors of blue and white an easily be for young
children or teenagers, and accessories can easily be changed.
The Jungle: childrens bedroom ideas of this sort tend to be looped into that "too limited" route. In fact, they can actually be quite liberating.
You can easily use a basic green for your walls and then simply change decor. Use dolls and photos of favored animals for younger children; then switch to african-flavored decor for older. You can incorporate everything from lion plushies to bamboo headboards. It can easily mature with your child, assuming they want it to.
