Baby Wall Decor
by KR&C Staff
When you’re creating a nursery design, baby wall decor is one of the most integral elements. You can decorate with either a boy’s or girl’s theme, or you can choose a more unisex style if you don’t know what you’ll be having.
Baby wall decor for girls can be traditional or alternative and modern, and incorporates different elements such as colors, images, and themes.
When you’re using more traditional styles for baby wall decor in a girl’s room, then you’ll likely be using one or more of the three most common colors: pink, cream, and green.
Pink has been the most popular color for little girls for decades. It is important to choose the right pink, though, or you’ll find that it becomes a fast priority to change the room’s shade within a short number of years. If the pink you choose is too bright, such as a hot pink, then it won’t be the soothing environment that a nursery must be for a restful baby. It will also create an uncomfortable feeling for you, and you’ll be spending quite a bit of time within that space. Instead, try to aim for more soft, subtle shades of pink and you’ll discover that your baby wall decor will last a lot longer. It will also be easier to incorporate into the toddler room designs that will come next.
A soft shade of green also works very well, especially if you are not yet certain that you will indeed be having a baby girl, or if you were hoping to steer away from the more typical pink. Both green and pink can be made to pop and appear much friendlier if they are accented with cream or even white. Or, you can use cream as the primary baby wall decor color and set it off with accents of pink or green. This is an especially good idea when the nursery is a small one because the brighter shade makes the space look bigger.
For boy’s baby wall decor, blues, yellows, and creams are the most popular colors. The same rules apply here as they do to the girls’ baby wall décor and decorating, except that it is much harder to find an offensive shade of blue for a nursery than it is to choose the wrong pink. Paler shades are usually preferable, will open up the space, and remain good complements as the theme of the room changes with the child’s age.
Whether for boys or girls, remember that flat paint is only the start of the baby wall decor. Wallpaper borders, stencils, decals, hangings, and other decorative elements with colors that complement the paint will add softness, style, and personality. Common images for these baby wall decor elements include animals like sheep or teddy bears, or favorite cartoon characters.
