Baby Decor - Exploring Your Options

In today’s society the number of baby decor items for the expecting parent to choose from is truly overwhelming.

Therefore, in order to narrow down your ideas you should first begin with a single theme, and then expand on your baby decor ideas from there.

When trying to decide on a theme for your nursery, it is a good idea to begin by brainstorming on ideas you like, and to think of things that make you happy.

Keep in mind that the theme you pick is one of the first things your child will recognize and relate to. Therefore, you will want to provide the nursery with interesting baby decor for your new born child to look at.

To give you a better idea of how to expand on baby decor after choosing a theme, the following is a simple example of what you could do, if you decided to design your baby’s room with a teddy bear theme.

Furniture - The best looking furniture for baby decor is solid wood, because not only does it have a look of elegance, but it also looks warm, and is known for its quality.

The furniture for this themed room includes a crib, changing table, dresser and rocking chair (the furniture you will choose will depend on your budget, as well as the space you have to work with). Each of these furniture items can be left untouched with their plain wood look, or you can add some more baby decor to them by stenciling on bear images with paint.

Walls - With a teddy bear theme you may choose to go with regular brown bears, or you may wish to use pink, blue, purple, or green bears as the coloring for the nursery walls.

You will discover that there are many different wallpaper designs when it comes to baby room decor, so if teddy bears are your theme, you can choose to mix and match different teddy bear wallpapers, paint the room a solid color and use a teddy bear wallpaper border for the top or middle of the room, paint a teddy bear mural like "The Teddy Bear Picnic", or stencil teddy bears on the wall.

Floors - Once the walls are finished, you can then proceed to choose baby decor for the nursery floor. You may wish to leave it hardwood, or you may want to put in a soft carpet that is lighter or darker than your walls to give them a nice accent.

Wall Art - For the teddy bear theme, baby decor wall art can consist of teddy bear paintings, quilts, wood carvings, plaques, framed cross stitched or embroidered teddy bear pictures, ceramic teddy bears, etc.

Bedding - Finding teddy bear themed baby decor crib bedding will not be difficult. Just ensure that the set you pick out (regardless of your own personal theme) is made with quality, is machine washable, is hypoallergenic, and soft.

Additional Accessories - other items you may wish to include in the room to go along with the theme could be a teddy bear lamp, night light, area rug, music box, clock, stuffed toy, mobile, soft throw blanket, etc.

Regardless of what your theme is for your little one’s nursery, you will be sure to find all of the baby decor you need in order to make your child’s room one that is full of color, joy, warmth and happiness.
