Arts Crafts for Kids - Jewel Case Picture Frame
This arts crafts for kids project is suitable for all ages.
Ever wondered what to do with those old cd cases you have around the house? Make this crafts for kids picture frame with them!
This project creates a unique decoration for your child's room, and recycles at the same time. And the best part about this arts crafts for kids project is that one of the three cd cases you use can even be cracked!
All you need to make this kid craft project is:
- 3 cd jewel cases
- Glue - preferable hot glue
- Tape
- 2 pictures you can trim to size
- Construction paper, card stock, or any other thick paper
- Start your arts crafts for kids frame by removing any labels or other items from the jewel cases. If the cases have a lot of finger and hand prints on them, you may want to wipe them down with a glass cleaner.
- Trace the cases onto your paper. This will give you the outline for the border that goes around your picture.
- Cut a hole in the middle of your border piece. Squares are easier to cut, but you can make any shaped hole in your border. Make sure you cut the hole large enough to include all of the image on your photo you wish to display.
- Trim your photo to fit within the cd case.
- Once you've cut out the shape for this arts crafts for kids project, tape your picture behind the hole left in your border piece. Be sure to tape the picture firmly in place.
- Now you can decorate your border with stickers if you want, or draw anything else on it. This is the part where your child can get really creative with their arts crafts for kids project.
- Now it's time to make the frame. Open up the jewel cases. This makes it easier to figure out which way they go together and also easier to glue them.
- To place them in the correct orientation, set the first case in the shape of a V (as you're looking down on the open case.) If you are using a cracked case, use it for this one.

- The next two cases are positioned as upside down Vs on either side of the first V. When they are all sitting in the proper position, they make a capital M.
- Glue the cases together. Hot glue dries faster and adheres to plastic well, but you can use any glue as long as you have the patience to hold the cases together while they dry.
- Now slide your bordered photos into the end cd cases. Close these cd casess to hold the pictures for this arts crafts for kids project. The middle cd will remain open, and you can move it around and adjust the amount it is open to position your frame exactly how you want it.
When you are finished making this arts crafts for kids picture frame, you will have a
great decoration for your child's room.
I hope you enjoyed this arts crafts for kids project.
