Aquarium Decor - Get Into The Groove Of The Sea
If you have a child who is in love with the sea, then aquarium decor is what you need to bring the magical mysteries of the ocean to your child’s bedroom.
There are many fantastic decorating ideas waiting for you to explore, so don’t feel that you have to follow only one idea.
If you decide on aquarium decor, you should fist take the time to sit down with your child so you can discuss what he or she would like in their room, and then decide on your budget.
From accessories, to wallpaper, paint, furniture, floors and artwork, there are many things to consider when planning the perfect aquarium decor.
The following are some ideas you may want to think about and add to your aquarium decor list:
Themes - you may not think that there can be more than one theme when it comes to creating your child’s very own bedroom aquarium, but when choosing your aquarium decor, you should decide if your child is interested in more of a fantasy undersea world that is filled with mermaids, or a more realistic aquarium that is devoted to all different types of fish and real sea-creatures.
Furniture - Before you can begin decorating, you must first decide what furniture will be placed in the room.
Considering the theme is linked with aquarium decor, a standard twin (single) or double (full) bed with perhaps a seashell headboard, or plain headboard that you can paint fish or other sea related images on, would be a perfect addition to the room.
Other furniture items to consider are desks, dressers, nightstands and bookshelves, made of paint friendly material.
This will allow you to paint the furniture either a lighter or darker color to accent with the walls of the room. As an extra special touch, you could also purchase a chest or trunk, and decorate it this great storage piece to resemble a treasure chest.
Walls - When using aquarium decor as your theme, you can really use your imagination decorating the walls of the room.
Not only could you find a number or sea related wallpaper, but you could also simply paint the room an aqua-marine or other sea blue, and add your own paint designs by fashioning a wall mural filled with images of tropical fish, bubbles, mermaids, divers, various sea creatures, sea weed, etc, to really capture the "under the sea" look.
Floors - After the walls have been fashioned with their aquarium decor, you can then choose to add soft blue carpet to represent the sea, or perhaps a sandy brown carpet, or hardwood to represent the bottom of the aquarium.
Accessories - Ideas include a brown bean bag chair to resemble a rock, area rugs in the shape of fish, starfish, etc., a lamp with a shade that you can decorate with seashells, lava lamp, and various undersea figurines.
You can also put up a fish net in one corner of the room to hold up stuffed toys or other aquarium décor.
Bedding - Finding aquarium bedding with fish, other sea creatures, or an ocean scene, should not be difficult. You may also want to just pick a solid color, incase more images would only clash with the rest of the aquarium décor in the room.
There you have it, a number of great ideas to help you get started. And don’t forget to make the aquarium decor project a fun family activity. That way everyone can enjoy the magic of the sea together.
